The main swimming lakes in Corrèze
Lake Triouzoune in Neuvic and Liginiac
Covering 410 hectares, Lake Triouzoune is one of the largest bodies of water in Corrèze. With shores that are by turns sandy and green, it offers the perfect setting for swimming, water sports and outdoor activities.
On the Neuvic side, the beach has been awarded the ‘Blue Flag’ and ‘Handiplage’ labels. Swimming is supervised here in July and August, from 10.30 am to 12.30 pm and then from 2 pm to 7 pm. During the season, the water sports centre offers a wide range of activities: sailing, windsurfing, canoeing and kayaking, pedalos, water skiing and jet-skiing.
In Liginiac, Maury Beach also holds the ‘Blue Flag’ award. Lifeguards are on duty from 2 pm to 7 pm during the summer. On site, visitors can also enjoy play areas, fishing spots and a jetty for launching boats.
Lake Causse Corrézien in Lissac-sur-Couze
On the outskirts of Brive-la-Gaillarde, lake Causse Corrézien is one of the most popular swimming spots in southern Corrèze. Nestled in a lush green valley, this lake covering nearly 100 hectares appeals to families and water sports enthusiasts alike. Several well-equipped beaches allow visitors to enjoy swimming in summer, whilst they can also try their hand at rowing, stand-up paddleboarding, canoeing or sailing. The swimming area is supervised daily during the summer holidays from 11am to 7pm by lifeguards.
Aubazines Beach, Bort-les-Orgues lake
Covering over 1,000 hectares, the Bort-les-Orgues reservoir is one of the largest bodies of water in the Massif Central. Straddling the borders of Corrèze and Cantal, this reservoir is popular for water sports, fishing and the spectacular scenery of the Dordogne valley.
On the Corrèze side, Aubazines Beach is the main designated bathing area. Lifeguards are on duty every day in July and August, from 2.30 pm to 7 pm. This natural setting offers a pleasant way to cool off during the summer whilst enjoying the many leisure activities available around the lake.
Lake Bariousses in Treignac
Situated at the foot of the Monédières massif, near Treignac, lake Bariousses is one of the most beautiful swimming spots in the department. This 99-hectare lake features a shaded beach with Blue Flag status, with lifeguards on duty in July and August. Accessible to people with reduced mobility thanks to adapted facilities, the site also offers a range of water sports organised by the Vézère-Monédières Nature Sports Centre: canoeing and kayaking, stand-up paddleboarding, pedalos, electric rowing boats and an inflatable water park.
Lake Séchemailles in Meymac
In the heart of Haute-Corrèze, a few kilometres from Meymac, Lake Séchemailles offers a pleasant, relaxing setting surrounded by forests. Awarded the Blue Flag, this 40-hectare lake has a supervised beach in July and August, as well as play areas for children. During the summer, the leisure centre offers canoe, kayak, paddleboard and pedal boat hire (including pedal boats with a slide) so you can make the most of the lake.
Lake Valette in Marcillac-la-Croisille
Covering 230 hectares, Lake Valette is one of the largest lakes in Corrèze. Located east of Tulle, it offers two supervised beaches in summer: Meyrignac and Puy Nachet. Water sports enthusiasts will find a leisure centre open all year round offering sailing, catamaran sailing, canoeing, kayaking and windsurfing. The lake is also renowned for its water skiing school, which attracts many enthusiasts during the summer months.
Lake Viam
On the Millevaches plateau, Lake Viam covers 189 hectares in a preserved environment. Its developed beach welcomes swimmers during the summer under the supervision of a lifeguard. The site also features play areas for children and is a popular spot for anglers. A dedicated area is also available for water skiing, whilst the banks offer a pleasant setting for a stroll along the water’s edge.
Lake Feyt in Servières-le-Château
In south-east Corrèze, Lake Feyt is popular for its peaceful atmosphere and natural surroundings. The beach, accessible via the Lac de Feyt campsite, offers supervised swimming in July and August. The campsite’s leisure centre also offers canoe, kayak, paddleboard and pedal boat hire for exploring the lake. With swimming, fishing and walks along the water’s edge, the site makes for a lovely summer getaway.
Family-friendly lakes and supervised swimming in Corrèze
More accessible and often smaller in size than the main lakes of Corrèze, these lakes offer an ideal setting for family swimming, with equipped beaches and lifeguards on duty during the summer.
Lake Bournazel in Seilhac
About twenty kilometres north of Tulle, Lake Bournazel is a site particularly popular with families. This 32-hectare lake has a fine sandy beach with lifeguards on duty in July and August, as well as a paddling pool and play areas for younger children. Visitors can also hire paddleboards to explore the lake or make use of the water-skiing area.
Lake Pontcharal in Vigeois
Located in the west of Corrèze, near Vigeois, Pontcharal Lake offers a pleasant setting for a day by the water. This 15-hectare lake has a supervised beach in July and August, play areas and access suitable for people with reduced mobility thanks to a Tiralo- . Visitors can hire pedalos, go windsurfing or walk along the paths that circle the lake. A zip line and a refreshment bar complete the site’s facilities.
Coiroux Lake in Aubazines
Located near Brive-la-Gaillarde, the Coiroux lake covers 24 hectares in the heart of a vast leisure park. Swimming is supervised in July and August, with supervision provided by BNSSA lifeguards. The site features a developed beach, children’s play areas and a full range of leisure activities including a treetop adventure course, inflatable games, mini-golf and a climbing wall within the Mayaventure park.
Lake Miel in Beynat
Set in a wooded and unspoilt environment, Lake Miel offers a fully fenced, 12-hectare beach. Swimming is supervised in summer, with a beach open during the summer season and facilities for families: a jetty, diving board and playground. The site, which has recently been refurbished, offers high-quality bathing water and a relaxing setting, with paid access in July and August.
Fontalavie Pond in Chamboulive
Just a stone’s throw from the village centre, the Fontalavie swimming pond is a small 3-hectare site dedicated to swimming and relaxation. It features a developed beach and two pools, one of which— —is reserved for younger children. Lifeguards are on duty in July and August, generally from 2 pm to 7 pm, except on Mondays. The site is popular for its peaceful, shaded and family-friendly atmosphere.
Les Forges lake in Lamongerie / Masseret
Halfway between Brive and Limoges, the Forges lake covers 5 hectares in the heart of the Montard Forest. Swimming is supervised in July and August, and the water quality is good. The site also offers children’s play areas, inflatable water attractions, and paddleboard and pedal boat hire, all set in a pleasant woodland setting.
Prévôt pond in Clergoux
Covering an area of 33 hectares, the Prévôt pond offers a preserved natural environment, nestled between wooded banks and heathland. A designated beach provides supervised swimming in July and August, usually from mid-July to mid-August. The site also features children’s play areas and fishing opportunities, all set in a peaceful, leafy setting.
Pont-Aubert lake in Soursac
Awarded Blue Flag status, the Pont-Aubert lake covers 8 hectares and offers a supervised beach in summer. The site is particularly suitable for families, with its children’s play areas, water slide, well-maintained beaches, sun loungers and leisure facilities such as beach volleyball and pedalos.
Lake Deiro in Égletons
Just a few minutes from Égletons town centre, Lake Deiro covers 11 hectares in a lush, green setting, sheltered from the main roads. The lake is lifeguard-supervised in July and August, with access to a designated bathing area. The site is popular for its peaceful setting and its close proximity to the town, making it ideal for a refreshing break in summer.

Meyrignac Pond in Meyrignac-l’Église
Nestled amongst the Monédières hills, Meyrignac Pond covers 17 hectares in a lush green landscape reminiscent of the small lakes of Scotland. Swimming is permitted in a designated but unsupervised area. The site also offers water sports such as pedalos, stand-up paddleboarding and canoeing, in a particularly peaceful and unspoilt setting.
Swimming at Vendahaut in Lapleau
Set in lush green surroundings in the heart of the valley, the Vendahaut swimming area covers 2 hectares and offers a popular spot for relaxation in summer. The area is lifeguarded in July and August, from 2 pm to 7 pm, Tuesday to Sunday. The site also features children’s play areas and is a pleasant spot for fishing, in a calm and natural setting.
Pré Chaton Pond in Saint-Salvadour
Set in a peaceful rural setting, the Pré Chaton lake offers supervised swimming in July and August from 1.30 pm to 7.30 pm. This 3-hectare lake offers a simple, relaxing setting, appreciated for its tranquillity and family-friendly atmosphere, ideal for a refreshing break away from the major tourist sites.
Jean Ségurel Pond in Chaumeil
Formerly known as the Maurianges pond, the small Jean Ségurel pond, covering around 1 hectare, offers a wooded setting with beautiful views of the Monédières hills and Chastagnol Castle. Swimming is supervised here in July and August. The site charms visitors with its natural surroundings and peaceful atmosphere, ideal for a refreshing break in the heart of nature.
Bruyères Pond in Auriac
Also known as the Croix de l’Arbre lake, the Bruyères pond covers around 4 to 5 hectares in a preserved natural setting. Swimming is supervised here in July and August, from 2 pm to 7.45 pm (except on Mondays). The site offers a wide range of leisure activities: inflatable water play structures ( ), pedal boat and canoe hire, mini-golf, a children’s play area and fishing. A fine sandy beach and a snack bar with a terrace complete the picture.
L'Enclose lake in Tarnac
Set amidst woodland, the Enclose lake offers supervised swimming in July and August on a fine sandy beach. Covering an area of 3 hectares, the site also offers outdoor activities such as kayaking, mountain biking and archery during the summer season. It is a particularly suitable spot for families with young children.
Les Chaux Lake in Sornac
Situated on the edge of the forest and close to the campsite, the Les Chaux lake offers unsupervised swimming in a natural and relaxing setting. Covering an area of around 4 hectares, it is popular for its simple setting and light-hearted summer activities, such as inflatable games available for use under parental supervision.
Lake Chammet in Peyrelevade
Situated on the Millevaches plateau, lake Chammet is a vast reservoir covering around 87 hectares, popular for its unspoilt natural setting. It has no designated beach, and swimming is neither supervised nor regulated. Nor is the water quality tested. Despite this, the site is popular in summer with locals and a few visitors who come to enjoy the tranquillity of the place in a wild environment, at their own risk.

Corrèze also offers the chance to enjoy its rivers, with a few natural spots where you can cool off in a more unspoilt and authentic setting. The following list is, of course, not exhaustive:
The Dordogne at Altillac and Beaulieu-sur-Dordogne
In one of the most beautiful bends of the Dordogne Valley, between Altillac and Beaulieu-sur-Dordogne, the river provides a spectacular setting for a refreshing break in the heart of nature. On the Altillac side, near the municipal swimming pool, car parks provide easy access to a grassy beach by the water’s edge. Here, the Dordogne is perfect for relaxing, water play and swimming in a natural setting within a particularly pleasant environment.
The Vézère at the Saillant bridge, in Voutezac
Between Voutezac and Allassac, at the Pont du Saillant, the Vézère forms a beautiful natural spot that is popular for cooling off in summer. The water is shallow in places, making it a popular spot for families with children to play and enjoy the river. It is important to note, however, that swimming is not officially permitted here, although the site remains popular for relaxing and dipping one’s feet in a natural setting.

With nearly 100 campsites in Corrèze, the department offers the chance to stay right by the lakes, ponds and rivers of the region. Some sites have direct access to a beach or the River Dordogne, whilst others are located in the immediate vicinity of the main swimming spots.
Campsites by the lakes
In Beynat, Le Lac de Miel**** campsite enjoys a prime location on the shores of Lake Miel. Holidaymakers benefit from direct access to the equipped beach, supervised swimming and the water sports on offer at the site.
In Seilhac, the Seasonova Le Lac de Bournazel**** campsite is situated on the shores of the lake of the same name. It offers direct access to the supervised beach in summer and makes it easy to enjoy the activities available around the lake.
To explore Lake Bort-les-Orgues, the Les Aubazines*** campsite in Bort-les-Orgues is also a great base thanks to its proximity to the Aubazines municipal beach.
Finally, the Village Nature Le Maury** campsite is just 50 metres away, with direct access, to Maury Beach on Lake Triouzoune.
Campsites on the banks of the Dordogne
Those who enjoy swimming in rivers will find several campsites situated right on the banks of the Dordogne.
In Monceaux-sur-Dordogne, the Le Saulou*** campsite offers direct access to the river with nearly 400 metres of riverbank. The Dordogne is ideal for swimming in natural waters, fishing and canoeing in a preserved environment.
Also in Monceaux-sur-Dordogne, the Le Vaurette**** campsite is another popular spot for enjoying the river and the many outdoor activities on offer in the Dordogne valley.
In Saint-Martial-Entraygues, the Château du Gibanel**** campsite also offers direct access to the Dordogne. Canoeing, kayaking, stand-up paddleboarding and pedalos complement the swimming opportunities provided by this waterside site.
Finally, the Huttopia Beaulieu-sur-Dordogne**** campsite offers accommodation right next to the Dordogne and the natural swimming spots around Beaulieu-sur-Dordogne.
Practical advice for swimming in Corrèze
Most swimming spots in Corrèze are lifeguard-supervised in July and August, but the periods and times of supervision may vary from one location to another. It is therefore advisable to check this information before you arrive, particularly at the start and end of the season. During the summer, the most popular sites can get very busy very quickly: arriving in the morning or late in the day often allows you to enjoy quieter conditions.
If the site is unsupervised, remain vigilant, particularly with children.
It is also advisable to check the water quality, which can vary depending on weather conditions or periods of drought. Finally, to preserve these natural areas, it is important to respect the environment, leave no litter behind and stay within the designated swimming areas.
