Camping: incredible water parks

Hotels and other tourist residences can eat their heart out. The champion of the swimsuit and leisure activities that go with it is still the campsite.

Whereas in the 1960s, swimming pools only made a timid appearance, by 2010, the percentage of French campsites with a pool was approaching 40 %. And above all, more and more, they are superb water complexes, sometimes extending for up to 7000 m² with several pools, wave pools, spiral slides, water games for toddlers, a jacuzzi and a covered pool, too!

Campsites have realised that holidaymakers’ favourite open-air activities take place next to the water. In some cases, the water park has become the focal point of the campsite, with a whole host of activities on offer. Among the models of its kind, we might mention the Domaine des Ormes in Epiniac (35) with its incredible wave pool, the Domaine de la Rive in Biscarosse (40) with an impressive water games area or Les Mimosas in Portiragnes (34) with its improbable “Spacehole”, a sort of slide that propels you through a 9-metre wide and 6-metre high cylinder before plunging you into the pool…
