What to see in France

Port of Saint-Nazaire

Located in the Loire Atlantique region, the port site of Saint-Nazaire, now called the Grand Port Maritime de Nantes-Saint-Nazaire, is the leading port on the Atlantic coast and welcomes 3,000 ships each year. We are particularly interested in the fact that it is home to two gems: the liner Escal'Atlantique and the submarine Espadon.

Visit the port of Saint-Nazaire during your camping holiday

Escal'Atlantique takes you into the world of cruises and transatlantic liners of the last century. In life-size ships, you can experience a few hours as a full-fledged passenger. 3500 m² to choose your cabin, walk around the deck and the lounges, have a drink in the bar and visit the impressive engine room... And for a long journey to the islands, don't miss the "Escal'Atlantique goes around the world" animation. Posters, objects, models and music recreate the luxurious atmosphere of legendary liners such as the France and the Normandie, which were built in Saint-Nazaire.

25 years of missions, 650,000 kilometres covered... The submarine Espadon is the only submarine afloat that is open to the public in France. It is also the first to have dived under the ice pack. On board, you will discover the way of life that such a space implies, and the scenario of its expedition to the North Pole, in 1964. Commentaries, testimonies and torpedo sound effects plunge us into total immersion.

You can also visit the ecomuseum and the wind centre, the only tourist site in France dedicated to wind energy and offshore wind power.

Finally, you can also take advantage of industrial visits in Saint-Nazaire to discover the Airbus workshops, the construction of legendary liners at the heart of the Chantiers de l'Atlantique, or the giant facilities of the Grand Port Maritime de Nantes Saint-Nazaire!
