What to see in France

City of the Sea

In Cherbourg, the Cité de la Mer is a fun and scientific park not to be missed, located in the Art Deco building of the former Gare Maritime Transatlantique.

Happy birthday: the Cité de la Mer celebrates its 20th anniversary in 2022!

Discover the Cité de la Mer during your camping holiday

The park is dedicated to underwater exploration and the discovery of the deep sea. In 2012, a new Titanic area and a Return to Cherbourg area were added to the park. The Ocean area deals with the sea from a historical perspective: expeditions, adventures, human conquests of the seas... More than three and a half thousand fish can be admired in seventeen aquariums, including an abyssal aquarium, the largest tank in Europe. The submarine section is more technical: the history of submarines, their construction, the life of submariners. Don't miss the largest submarine in the world that can be visited: the Redoutable, and don't miss the pleasure of driving the Furtif, a virtual submarine!
