Arcachon is in south-west France in the Nouvelle-Aquitaine region. Today, it is the main town in the Arcachon Bay, although not the most populated.
It is on the Atlantic coast and is famous for its oyster farms. The "winter town" with its eccentric villas, the Parc Mauresque, the Sainte-Cécile observatory, Pereire beach and the Dune du Pilat are all well worth a visit.
You can stay at a campsite in Arcachon, but others are less than 15 km away, in La Teste de Buch and Le Teich.
