What to see in France

Airborne Museum

At Sainte-Mère-Eglise in Normandy, in the Manche department, the Airborne Museum has been dedicated since 1964 to the epic of the American paratroopers who dived on the town during the night of 5 to 6 June 1944.

Visit the Airborne Museum during your camping holiday

A few kilometres from the landing beaches, the Airborne Museum is dedicated to the soldiers who came by glider and to the American parachutists who dropped in Normandy during the landing on the night of 6 June 1944, but also pays tribute to the American airborne troops of the 82nd and 101st divisions.

The architecture of the museum is original, with one building representing a parachute and another, a delta plane wing. The showcases are well stocked with photos, documents and weapons of the period. The visit is unforgettable, very lively thanks to the mannequins in uniform reproducing action scenes, the vehicles and gliders on display. It is thanks to the donations of the veterans as well as those of the inhabitants of Sainte-Mère-Eglise that we owe the richness of the collection of the museum made up of more than 10 000 objects. Finally, it should be noted that this is the first museum in La Manche dedicated to the Second World War.
