The Vieux-Nice district is always popular with visitors for its wide range of shops, traditional ice creams and colourful façades. Visiting Nice

With its very characteristic light, its special atmosphere and varied architecture, you will soon see why Nice is the capital of the French Riviera.

The old town, first of all, with its colourful little streets and Baroque churches and palaces, with Place Rossetti as a typical example. And don't miss Cours Saleya, a popular pedestrian area, and Sainte-Réparate Cathedral, the biggest church in Vieux Nice.

Continue your visit through the heart of the city and the harbour with its 18th century buildings in Genoese style. Place Massena is famous as the "jewel of Nice". It was built in 1840 and renovated in 2007, when seven statues symbolising the seven continents were set up in the square. The Basilica of Notre Dame is the biggest church in the city. It features a beautiful rose window.

You can enjoy a walk along the sea front on the famous Promenade des Anglais, with rows of palm trees on one side and the sea on the other. Continue on as far as Quai Rauba Capeu, where you can see one of the best views over the Mediterranean, plus a sundial that is always popular with children. The Palais de la Méditerranée is listed as a Historic Monument with its beautiful Art-Deco façade. Finally, the Negresco, a luxury hotel dating from the Belle Epoque, is also listed as a Historic Monument. It is ranked as one of the most beautiful hotels in the world.
