Noyers-sur-Serein photos

Famous because Noyers was the filming location for the TV series "Une famille formidable" a few years ago, or for the film Molière starring Romain Duris and Fabrice Luchini, in which a number of scenes were shot. And let's not forget the famous Grande Vadrouille, starring Louis de Funès and Bourvil, which nestled in the heart of the town for some of its most cult scenes, and Gérard Oury is not the only one to have chosen Noyers-sur-Serein. As you can imagine, visitors are keen to explore the area. The first step in discovering the heritage of one of the most beautiful villages in France is to wander around the meandering Serein and the narrow old streets of the medieval town, with its passageways covered by old wooden arches and attractive cellar entrances. The Place de l'Hôtel de Ville is well worth a visit, before admiring the medieval architecture of the beautiful half-timbered facades, notably the Maison du Schématisme and the Maison des Corporations, where angels and other wooden sculptures can be seen on the facade.

The Musée des Arts Naïfs et Populaires is one of the must-see attractions in the village of Noyers. It houses an impressive collection of works of art. Housed in a superb 16th-century building that used to be a secondary school, its architecture is not lacking in interest, quite the contrary. A museum of passion, culture, curiosity and surprise.

Notre-Dame de l'Assomption church was built in the 16th century in the flamboyant Gothic style, and its pulpit dates from the 18th century. The stained glass windows in the choir depict the life of the Virgin Mary. At the transept crossing, human figures stand out on the lower part of the arches, expressing the conscience that observes the sincerity of the faith of the faithful.

Leaving Notre-Dame church, enjoy a pleasant stroll to the site of the old château de Noyers, where you can discover the ramparts tower and its 13th-century fortified enclosure, as well as a collection of armour in the weapons room of the medieval museum of the château de Noyers.
