Inventory Check Upon Arrival at the Campsite: How Does It Work?

When you arrive at a campsite for your vacation, whether in a mobile home, a chalet, or another type of rental accommodation, an important step may be scheduled: the arrival inventory check. This inspection allows you to verify the condition of the accommodation and its equipment before settling in.

Here’s everything you need to know about the inventory check when arriving at a campsite.

What is an Arrival Inventory Check at a Campsite?

The arrival inventory check involves examining the general condition of the accommodation at the time guests arrive. It can be conducted with a member of the campsite staff or through an inventory document provided at reception.

This document allows you to check several items, including:

  • furniture (tables, chairs, beds, storage)
  • kitchen equipment
  • appliances (refrigerator, stove, microwave, etc.)
  • bathroom facilities
  • the overall condition of the accommodation and its equipment

The goal is to ensure that everything is in order before the start of your stay.

Why is the Inventory Check Important?

The inventory check protects both the guests and the campsite.

For Guests:

  • verify that the accommodation is in good condition
  • report any missing or defective equipment
  • avoid being held responsible for pre-existing damage

For the Campsite:

  • monitor the condition of accommodations between rentals
  • maintain a consistent quality level
  • manage deposits more easily

Some key points to check:

  • the functionality of main equipment (lighting, stove, hot water)
  • the presence of items listed in the inventory
  • the general condition of the rooms
  • the cleanliness of the accommodation

If you notice any issues, it is best to report them immediately to reception so they can be documented or addressed.

Departure Inventory Check

At the end of your stay, an exit inventory check may be conducted to ensure the accommodation is returned in the same condition as at arrival.

If there is no damage and the accommodation is left clean, the deposit is usually returned according to the campsite’s policies.

A Simple Step for a Stress-Free Stay

The arrival inventory check is a simple but essential procedure to start your vacation with peace of mind. By taking the time to inspect your accommodation, you avoid misunderstandings and can fully enjoy your stay at the campsite.
