Camping holidays in Ardèche Gorges

The Ardèche Gorges have been a nature reserve since 1980, and form a 35-kilometre long canyon. The limestone walls were dug out by the river over thousands of years, shaping a landscape that is ideal for speleology, hiking (signposted), swimming and canyoning.

It can also be explored in a canoe, providing an overall view of the gorges and giving access to places that are inaccessible to hikers. It is recommended to take a few days to explore and bivouac here, at the heart of nature. The famous natural arch of Pont d'Arc marks the site’s entrance and heralds the beauty of the gorge. Close by is the Chauvet Cave housing beautiful prehistoric paintings.

Lastly, you should know that the trail of the Gorges takes place here each year. The participants go down the River Ardèche in a kayak, from Vallon Pont d'Arc to Saint-Martin d'Ardèche, an event bringing together a great many people, including top-level competitors.

To help organise your holiday in Ardèche and your visit to the gorges, we’ve selected a few campsites that we invite you to see ahead of time.
