Sheets and towels in mobile homes: what to bring?
Sheets and towels are rarely provided in mobile homes, chalets or bungalows. At many campsites, holidaymakers must bring their own sheets, duvet covers and towels. This practice remains the norm, especially at family-friendly or mid-range campsites. However, the vast majority of establishments provide pillows and blankets — and often mattress protectors — but it is advisable to check before departure.
Renting sheets or towels: a budget to take into account
Sheet rental costs €9 to €15 per single bed and €12 to €19 for a double bed, while towels are available for €6 to €10 per person. Some campsites sell complete packs (sheets + towels), usually costing around €15 to €20 per person. These rates are generally offered on a weekly basis or for the entire stay.
Beds made on arrival: extra comfort or paid option
More and more campsites are offering the option of ‘beds made on arrival’, which is ideal for starting your holiday without having to put the sheets on yourself. Depending on the establishment, this service can take two forms:
- Included in the price of bed linen hire: often around £10 to £15 per bed, including linen and bed-making;
- Charged as an extra: some campsites distinguish between linen hire (£12 to £15) and the bed-making service (+£8 to £10 per bed).
Finally, more comprehensive comfort packs combine sheets, towels and beds made on arrival, but they are more expensive. It is therefore important to check whether the option is included (this is common for high-end accommodation) or offered separately to avoid unpleasant surprises.
Other rentals
Very few campsites offer kitchen towel rentals (which is a shame if you've forgotten yours), but some establishments allow you to rent a refrigerator, baby equipment or a television: see the options offered by the campsites.
Check before you leave
As each campsite has its own policy, it is best to consult the description of your accommodation when booking or contact the establishment directly. This will allow you to plan what you need to bring: sheets, towels, kitchen towels, and even mattress covers for children's beds.
In summary: when staying in a mobile home, always plan to bring your own household linen, unless you have specifically booked a rental option. Checking in advance will avoid any unpleasant surprises and ensure you have a peaceful stay.
