On board the Yellow Train

The Yellow Train is the name given to the railway that runs on a mountain line that was created in 1910, the Cerdanya line.

Discover the yellow train during your camping holiday

Steep (6% slopes) and tortuous (with nineteen tunnels and two viaducts), the Cerdagne line... the Yellow Train crosses the Pyrenean reliefs from Villefranche to Latour-de-Carol, passing through eighteen disused stations that did not survive the modernisation of the line.

However, the train has retained its authentic appearance, with its light yellow colour and original signs. In summer, the route is very popular with tourists because of the beautiful mountain scenery it passes through: the Caranca Gorges, the Cerdan plateaus and the Pyrenean peaks, not forgetting the typical villages such as Via Font-Romeu. The Yellow Train is also famous for passing through the highest station in France, in the Village of Bolquère, perched at an altitude of 1592 metres!

Finally, the Cerdanya line has been included on the UNESCO World Heritage List as the "Chemin de fer de Cerdagne" since 2002.
