And like every year, we end up laughing and saying, "Come on, this time we'll really stick to them."
So for 2026, we've decided to make resolutions... but real ones. Simple ones, inspired by our weekends and camping trips. Family resolutions that smell of the forest, wet feet after crossing a ford, long evenings and sand in the car.
Here's how our family promised to experience 2026 differently thanks to camping.
For us, camping in 2026 will mean:
1. In 2026, we'll go away more often... but not as far
We learned one thing in 2025: two nights an hour away from home are sometimes better than a week on the other side of the country.
This year, we're getting organised: one weekend camping trip per quarter. A small campsite near a lake, a wood, a charming village... Perfect for disconnecting without taking time off work.
No need to pack up the whole house: we'll travel light, breathe deeply, and come back transformed.
We've promised ourselves we'll try a weekend in June or September: mild air, peaceful landscapes, more affordable rates. And that little feeling of privilege, as if the campsite were almost ours.
And ultimately, that's what a real holiday is all about: not waiting until July to feel alive.
2. We'll finally discover a new region
Every year, we say to ourselves: "Hey, northern Brittany would be nice," or "We've never been to the Vosges." And then we go back to the same place, because it's easier.
So for 2026, we're going to draw a destination from a jar. Yes, a real jar.
We promise: we'll go wherever the paper takes us.
Maybe a nature reserve we've never been to before, maybe a coastline we've never travelled along.
The idea is simply to let yourself be surprised. And that's great, because in France, there are so many destinations to discover!
3. Choose campsites closer to nature
The resolution for 2026 is to rediscover peace and quiet: trees. Space. A place where you can really hear the birds singing in the morning.
We decided that 2026 would be the year of nature campsites:
- by a lake or river,
- at the foot of a mountain,
- in a forest,
- or on a more unspoilt beach.
Places where you can go for a walk without taking the car. Places where nature is within reach... or within walking distance.
4. We will do one nature activity per day (and no more)
We're not talking about performance. We're talking about little things to enjoy the outdoors together.
A one-hour walk.
A bike ride.
A paddle or canoe trip at the end of the day.
A botanical trail for the children, or exploring the campsite's mini farm.
We noticed that all it took was a simple activity to give the day a different flavour. No need to fill up your schedule. A single nature activity is enough to make your holiday a success.
5. Finally, try out some unusual accommodation
For three years, we've been saying, "One day, we'll sleep in a tree house, a wooden teepee, or a transparent bubble." There are so many unusual rentals that allow you to really feel like you're in a different world!
In 2026, that day will come. Even if it's just for one night. Even if it's ten kilometres from home. Because it's these slightly crazy experiences that stay in the family memory.
Just thinking about it makes us want to find out more about campsites that offer unusual accommodation.
6. We will embrace slow travel for a weekend or short break
This is perhaps the most ambitious resolution!
Choose campsites that are accessible by train or bicycle.
Leave the car at home for three days.
Explore only on foot or by bicycle (many campsites rent them out, so there's no need to bring your own).
Choose to do nothing, too – which, when you think about it, is very difficult. Just enjoy the peace and quiet, rest and recharge your batteries.
Slow travel means stripping away the unnecessary layers. It means watching the sunset while sitting down. It means telling yourself that you haven't forgotten anything, because there was nothing to prepare.
7. We'll spend more time together (really)
This isn't a resolution: it's a promise.
And so that children remember that their parents still know how to skip stones, tell stories, and deliberately lose at Uno.
Choose campsites where you can really enjoy time together:
- a water park to have fun,
- a hiking trail for chatting,
- mini golf or a pétanque court for family fun,
- simple entertainment so that everyone can find their place.
8. We really enjoy ourselves at the campsite
In 2026, we enjoy camping as it should be enjoyed. We take care of ourselves: a session at the spa, a moment of relaxation in the sauna or jacuzzi. We really get involved in the sports activities on offer: fitness classes, yoga or aquagym, just to get moving in a different way.
And of course, we'll sample the local flavours: meals at the campsite restaurant, local specialities, homemade ice cream for the children... All without rushing, just for pleasure. Camping then becomes a real place for relaxation, good food and shared family moments.
9. We'll organise a smarter budget
We've learned from our mistakes: booking too late, comparing at random, hesitating for weeks...
In 2026, we'll keep it simple:
- Set an overall budget decided by the family,
- Find affordable nature campsites,
- Book early, in winter, to take advantage of the best early-booking rates and the widest choice of pitches,
- Keep a short, reasonable and realistic list.
Good preparation means you can enjoy yourself more and set off with peace of mind. To start with, let's take a look at some great camping deals right now.
10. We won't always go back to the same campsite
In 2026, no more routine!
Instead of returning to the same mobile home every year, we'll set off to discover a new campsite. A different place, by the sea, in the mountains, by a lake or in a forest.
The goal? To create new memories, enjoy new experiences and take full advantage of everything France has to offer in terms of nature, landscapes and family time.
Conclusion: 2026; a year to really enjoy camping
These resolutions aren't perfect. We may not keep them all. But if two, three or four of them come true, then 2026 will already be a great year.
And if we want to prolong all this, all we have to do is pack our bags again. Camping, after all, is the art of feeling like you're on holiday... as soon as you close the car door.
