Located in the Occitanie region, the Lot is a department of the South-West created during the French Revolution. Its name comes from the river of the same name. Delimited by small towns and picturesque villages, its three valleys, the Célé, the Lot and the Dordogne, fully reveal its identity. They invite outdoor activities such as hiking or cycling... An ideal department for camping enthusiasts.

Small charming towns and villages

In addition to its charm and energy, Figeac has a truly privileged location. You don't have to look far to see the mountains of the Massif Central, the Célé valley or the superb limestone plateaus of the Quercy limestone plateau. You should stroll through the medieval-style streets and discover the Champollion Museum, the decipherer of hieroglyphs, which was set up in the town.

In the north-west of the department, at the gateway to the Périgord, the pretty little town of Gourdon has been awarded the label of the Most Beautiful Detours in France. To taste the gastronomy of the Lot, the market opens its doors on Tuesday and Saturday mornings, you will discover noble products such as foie gras and truffles, the leg of Causse, honey, walnuts, ceps and Cahors wine. In summer, don't miss the farmers' market on the Place Saint Pierre.

Between Sarlat and Rocamadour, the emblematic city of the Quercy region, Souillac is famous for its important heritage such as the Abbey of Sainte Marie in which there is an exceptional sculpture of the prophet Isaiah as well as a listed organ dating from 1845. Souillac is also famous for its bridges, with the Borrèze viaduct, the Louis Vicat bridge and the most recent, 300-metre long bridge, which offers a splendid view of the Dordogne.

The Lot is also the medieval village of Montcuq which became famous thanks to Pierre Bonte's sketch with Daniel Prevost in 1976. Nino Ferrer's song "le sud" also referred to it.

In the heart of the Cahors vineyards, the charming village of Puy l'Eveque sits on a promontory above the river.

You can make a refreshing stop in Cabrerets, which is home to the famous Pech Merle caves, where it is certainly cool! But above all because the village offers a beach, for swimming in a picturesque setting between two visits to the villages.

Finally, the village of Espagnac-Sainte-Eulalie on the left bank of the Célé valley is a real wonder. Situated on the route to Santiago de Compostela, it hides the sumptuous Val Paradis priory, which is highly recommended.
