The best swimming spots in Seine-et-Marne
Vaires-Torcy Leisure Island
Located east of Paris, the Vaires-Torcy leisure island features a vast 25-hectare lake dedicated to water sports and swimming, managed by the UCPA. The water sports centre also hosted the Olympic rowing and canoeing events during the 2024 Olympic Games. The site is particularly popular for its green surroundings and wide range of activities: pedalos, canoeing and relaxation areas by the beach.
The swimming area is supervised during the summer season, generally at weekends and on public holidays in June (Wednesdays and weekends) and every day in July and August. There is an entry fee for the swimming area, but this also includes access to the slides and the Aquapark.
Jablines-Annet Leisure Island
One of the best-known in the department, located around 40 km from Paris, the Jablines-Annet Leisure Island offers two large, well-equipped sandy beaches. The site is ideal for a full day out thanks to its many activities: sailing, paddleboarding, water ski lift, mini-golf, kayaking... And its various dining options.
Swimming is supervised, generally during the last two weekends of May, from 1 June to 31 August and the first two weekends of September. The site has two designated swimming areas: the North Beach, open every day, and the South Beach, accessible only at weekends and during school holidays. Outside these supervised periods and designated areas, swimming is strictly prohibited.

Meaux Beach
On the banks of the Marne, Meaux Beach offers a designated swimming area with jetties, a sandy beach, lawns and water sports (canoe and kayak hire, or electric boats available without a licence). Lifeguards are on duty from 8 July to 23 August, making it a very popular spot for residents of northern Seine-et-Marne. Its easy access and urban setting make it a practical option for a refreshing day out right on the city’s doorstep.
If you live in Meaux or the surrounding area, entry to the beach is free; otherwise, it will cost you a few euros.
Meaux beach is bordered by the Pâtis nature reserve, which offers plenty of wooded areas for walking or cycling, all whilst staying along the banks of the Marne. Access to the park is free.
Bois-le-Roi Leisure Centre
In the south-west of the department, the Bois-le-Roi leisure centre offers free swimming in a supervised area, generally from mid-June to the end of August, depending on the weather.
The site is popular for its natural setting and the many activities organised by the UCPA, including canoeing and paddleboarding. It is one of the most accessible spots from Paris by train.
Buthiers Leisure Island
The Buthiers regional leisure island, in the heart of the Fontainebleau Forest, is known for its large 1,400 m² water park with several slides. Swimming is supervised in summer, generally from mid-June to the end of August. The site combines a swimming area, water play for children and outdoor activities in a woodland setting, such as mini-golf and a treetop adventure course.
There is an admission charge for the outdoor pool.
Souppes-sur-Loing Leisure Centre
Located in the south of the department, the Souppes-sur-Loing Leisure Centre offers supervised swimming in summer in a pleasant natural setting. The site also offers paddleboarding and gentle water sports on the lake. Souppes-sur-Loing beach is the only beach in the Île-de-France region to hold the Blue Flag certification in 2026.
