Beauval Zoo presents more than 35,000 animals on 44 hectares. It has built its reputation by being the first animal park to present certain animals, and sometimes the only one in France, notably the giant panda, the koala and the Tasmanian devil.

Giant pandas at Beauval: a unique story

Arriving in 2012 as part of an exceptional loan from China, the giant pandas Huan Huan and Yuan Zi marked a turning point in the history of Beauval ZooParc. Their presence has helped to make the park one of the most visited tourist sites in France and has raised awareness among millions of visitors about the protection of this iconic species.

Beauval Zoo was the first park in France, and the fourth in Europe, to successfully breed giant pandas, with the birth of Yuan Meng in 2017 and twin pandas, Huanlili and Yuandudu, in 2021.

After more than thirteen years at Beauval, the couple returned to China in November 2025, while the twins Huanlili and Yuandudu will remain at Beauval until at least January 2027. Their saga thus continues to embody Beauval's commitment to conservation.

Beauval ZooParc comprises around twenty immersive habitats where visitors can observe the animals in environments inspired by their natural habitats.

The greenhouses offer a real immersion in the tropical world: the equatorial dome, the Australian greenhouse, the gorilla, chimpanzee and orangutan greenhouse, and the tropical bird greenhouse, home to exotic birds, great apes, sloths, reptiles, manatees and Australasian species.

Vast reconstructed plains showcase large African herbivores — giraffes, white rhinos, wildebeests, antelopes — as well as African elephants and several Asian species such as the Indian rhinoceros and the Malayan tapir.

The Chinese area, "Sur les hauteurs de Chine" (On the Heights of China), is still home to the giant panda twins Huanlili and Yuandudu, who will remain there until 2027, surrounded by red pandas, takins and snow leopards. The park also features large African territories with the African Savannah, the Hippopotamus Reserve and the Land of Lions, as well as a North American area where brown bears and arctic wolves can be observed.

Two areas are dedicated to shows: the open-air free-flight theatre, where hundreds of birds fly, and the sea lion pool. Several elevated viewing points, footbridges and belvederes also offer unique perspectives on the animals and their habitats.

To fully enjoy the park, don't hesitate to plan two days of visits...
