Camping Huttopia Le Moulin and its direct access to the river
Camping Huttopia Le Moulin *** is in Saint-Martin-d'Ardèche, at the gateway to the Ardèche Gorges, in a privileged natural setting. Covering 7 hectares, it offers over 200 pitches for tents, caravans, motorhomes and a range of comfortable accommodation. Open from April to the end of September, it offers direct access to the river for swimming and water sports. Two outdoor swimming pools, a Café-Comptoir, a playground, a beach volleyball court and a launderette are all available. La Plage Fleurie campsite in Vallon-Pont-d'Arc
campsite La Plage Fleurie ***** is in Vallon-Pont-d'Arc, on the banks of the River Ardèche. This family campsite is set in 12 hectares of parkland and offers 202 accommodation units and 92 spacious pitches, some of which are riverside. Open from April to September, holidaymakers can enjoy a 1,260 m² water park with pools, paddling pools, slides and an Aquakids area. The campsite also has direct access to a private beach, ideal for swimming and water sports. For families, there are children's clubs, as well as a range of entertainment and activities on site or nearby. The campsite is also an excellent base for exploring the Gorges de l'Ardèche, the Pont d'Arc and the Grotte Chauvet 2.
4-star campsite with swimming pool in Joyeuse
The Bois Simonet campsite **** is located in Joyeuse, in the south of the Ardèche, in the heart of the Monts d'Ardèche Regional Nature Park. The campsite covers 3.7 hectares of pine forest and offers 70 pitches, including 52 accommodation units (chalets, lodges, mobile homes) and 18 pitches for tents and caravans. It is open from April to the end of September. The campsite has two heated outdoor swimming pools, a restaurant, a grocery shop, a bar, a snack bar and a playground. Daytime and evening entertainment includes children's and teenagers' clubs, sports tournaments, water games and themed evenings. The river La Beaume, ideal for swimming and fishing, is a 10-minute walk from the campsite. The medieval village of Joyeuse, with its famous market, is 3 km away. The campsite is also close to tourist sites such as the Gorges de l'Ardèche and Grotte Chauvet 2.
Family campsite by the river
Camping L'Oasis **** is in Éclassan, in the heart of the Ardèche, in a peaceful valley bordered by the river Ay. It offers spacious, shady pitches and features 37 pitches and 34 rental accommodations, including mobile homes, safari tents and chalets. Open from May to the end of August, holidaymakers can enjoy a 112 m² heated outdoor swimming pool and children's paddling pool, as well as a trampoline, mini golf, playground, table tennis and petanque area. Children's entertainment is available in high season. The river Ay is very shallow, allowing children to wade in complete safety. The campsite also has a bar-restaurant serving takeaway meals, a grocery shop selling fresh bread and pastries, and charging points for electric vehicles. Pets are allowed under certain conditions. Le Pommier campsite ***** is in Villeneuve-de-Berg, in southern Ardèche, 30 minutes from Pont d'Arc. It extends over 70 terraced hectares and offers 709 pitches, including mobile homes, chalets and tent lodges. It is open between April and early September and the main attraction is its water park with 13 slides and 3 pools, including a heated sports pool, a "Tropicana" pool with paddling pool and jacuzzi, and a "Pirate" pool with a boat and water games. Sun loungers and snack bars are also available around the pools. The campsite offers a wide range of activities for all the family: children's clubs, giant zip lines, multi-sports pitches, secure play area, and daytime and evening entertainment. There's also a restaurant-pizzeria, a mini-market with a rotisserie and a mini-train. The campsite is ideally located for exploring the Gorges de l'Ardèche, the Grotte Chauvet 2, the villages of character such as Balazuc and Vogüé, and outdoor activities such as canoeing, canyoning and hiking.
Cheaper camping in Ardèche
La Source campsite *** is in Berrias-et-Casteljau, in the heart of the southern Ardèche, a stone's throw from the Ardèche Gorges. It extends over 6 hectares and offers 93 pitches, including 31 rentals, in a natural, shady setting. Open from May to September, it has two swimming pools, a paddling pool and a Spa. On site, you'll find a bar-restaurant, a convenience store, communal barbecues and a host of sports and leisure facilities (pitches, table tennis, table football, etc.). A playground and children's activities are available in summer, as well as a free mini-farm. Nearby, you can explore the Bois de Païolive, the Gorges du Chassezac and the Pont d'Arc. The campsite has been awarded the Green Key label for its commitment to the environment.

The Chauvet cave, a marvel of prehistory
Discovered in 1994, the Chauvet cave is a wonder! Dating back to prehistoric times, and listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, this cave contains more than 1,000 engravings and paintings, including 425 representations of animals that are among the oldest in the world. In order to preserve it, the site is closed to the public but a replica of the cave has been open since 2015.
Crussol castle on its rocky outcrop
Classified as a Natura 2000 site, the ruins of the medieval fortress of Crussol Castle can be seen from afar thanks to its location on a rocky spur overlooking the Rhône valley and facing the town of Valence in the Drôme. It can be reached on foot (in around 30 minutes) via a path that leads right up to the castle. From up there, you'll be rewarded with a breathtaking view.
Mount Mézenc and its two peaks
Another dome for sportsmen, Mount Mézenc, with its two peaks rising to over 1700 metres, is well worth climbing. Located in the heart of the Monts d'Ardèche Regional Nature Park, you will find not only an abundance of unusual flora (especially in spring) but also an exceptional panorama, from the orientation table, of the Alps, the Massif Central and the Rhône valley.
The Pic belvedere and its superb panorama
Another point of view on the Rhône valley, the Cévennes ardéchoises and the Alps, with the belvedere of the Pic, at 650 meters of altitude. It is located in Saint-Romain-de-Lerps and offers a 360 degree panorama. This place is really worth a visit!
Balazuc, one of France's most beautiful villages
Classified as one of the most beautiful villages in France, the small medieval town of Balazuc is perched on the heights of the Ardèche valley. You can stop to admire the feudal castle and the church of Sainte-Madeleine, then continue your walk through the lovely narrow streets with their vaulted passages, staircases and numerous arcades. There is even a beach here. A pleasant way to end your day is by cooling off in the river.
The charming village of Labeaume at the foot of the cliffs
The village of Labeaume is situated on the river and at the foot of the limestone cliffs. To admire it before getting lost, go to the submersible bridge to enjoy a very nice view of the whole village. Then, you must walk inside the village and admire the Place du Sablas, the cobbled streets, the covered passages and other stone facades of this charming village.
