In Sabres, in the Nouvelle Aquitaine region, the Ecomusée de Marquèze plunges the visitor into the heart of the Landes region in the 19th century and, in particular, into the world of agriculture.

Discover the Marquèze Ecomuseum during your camping holiday

Created by the Landes de Gascogne Regional Nature Park in 1969, the Ecomusée de la Grande Lande aimed to pass on the heritage of the Landes de Gascogne. At the time, it was one of the very first ecomuseums in France. The shepherd, the ploughman, the miller and the resin maker show the traditional habitats, tools, techniques and craft skills.

In the middle of the forest, the site offers pleasant walks among the pine trees.

To reach the ecomuseum, take a small train from the station in Sabres. The latter is made up of three sites, the Maquèze district in Sabres, the pine resin distillation workshop in Luxey and the Graine de Forêt site in Luxey. Seasonal activities are proposed, Gascon music, dance and sharing of Pastis Landais are an excellent opportunity to get together with family or friends.
