Football is the most popular sport in the world, which is certainly why it has been on the Olympic Games programme since 1900. For the Paris 2024 Olympic Games, discover the calendar of football matches that will be held in 7 stadiums in France.

Rugby

Rugby, back in the Olympic Games since 2016, is played with 7 players in the Olympic framework. Would you like to watch the rugby matches and admire the passes, tackles, scrums and tries? The rugby tournament will take place at the Stade de France on 24-25 August and 27-30 August 2024.

Basketball has been a full Olympic sport since the 1936 Berlin Olympics.

Do you want to see players stringing together offensive and defensive actions and making runs and baskets? 12 basketball teams will be competing during the 2024 Olympic Games tournament.

The preliminary stages of basketball will take place at the Stade Pierre Mauroy in Lille from 27 July to 5 August 2024.

The finals will take place at the Bercy Arena in Paris from Tuesday 6 August to Sunday 11 August 2024

3-on-3 basketball

Since 2010, 3x3 basketball is an Olympic discipline, young and urban because it comes from the practice of street basketball.

To watch the events, you will have to go to the Place de la Concorde, in a real open stadium in the heart of Paris, from 30 July to 5 August 2024

Handball

Indoor handball has been played at the Olympic Games since 1972. In 2024, 12 women's and 12 men's teams will compete with dribbling, shooting and scoring...

The preliminary stages of handball will take place at the Arena Paris Sud 6 - the Paris exhibition centre. Several dates are available, on 25 July and from 27 July to 4 August.

The finals will take place at the Stade Pierre Mauroy, in Villeneuve d'Ascq near Lille, from 6 to 11 August 2024.

Hockey

Come and support the hockey teams playing with the stick at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games!

From 27 July to 9 August 2024, the hockey events will take place at the Stade Yves-du-Manoir in Colombes, Hauts-de-Seine - the same stadium that hosted the 1924 Paris Olympics.

Volleyball

Volleyball has been on the Olympic programme since the 1964 Tokyo Games, and is an anthology of spectacular spikes, receptions, coordinated passes and impressive jump serves.

In 2024, the Olympic volleyball tournaments will be held at the Arena Paris Sud 1, located at the Paris Exhibition Centre, from 27 July to 11 August.

Beach volleyball

As for beach volleyball, you will be able to attend it by going to the Eiffel Tower Stadium from 27 July to 10 August 2024. As a reminder, this sport appeared in the Olympic Games in 1996 - a recent discipline, therefore, and is played with teams of 2 players.

Water polo

To watch the preliminary stages of the water polo tournaments and support your team, come to the Seine-Saint-Denis Aquatic Centre, built for the occasion, from 27 July to 4 August.

The water polo finals will take place from 5 to 11 August 2024 at the Paris La Défense Arena.

How to watch the team sports at the 2024 Games?

To attend the basketball (preliminary stages) and handball (final stages) tournaments, you will have to go to the Pierre-Maurois stadium in Villeneuve d'Ascq near Lille, in the north of France. 6 campsites near Lille can be used as a base to attend the tournaments and discover the region.

With the exception of football, whose matches will be held in various stadiums in mainland France, the other team sports tournaments will be held in Paris and its immediate suburbs:

  • The Arena Bercy, located in the eastern part of Paris, will host basketball, artistic gymnastics, trampoline and wheelchair basketball in 2024.
  • Arena Paris Sud: Paris Expo, the "exhibition park" of Paris, will bring together three Olympic and Paralympic arenas in the south of Paris. On the programme: volleyball, table tennis, weightlifting, handball, and on the Paralympic side boccia, goalball and table tennis.
  • In the heart of Paris, the Eiffel Tower Stadium will host the Beach Volleyball and Cecifoot events, and transform the famous Champ de Mars into a temporary outdoor arena!
  • On the famous Place de la Concorde, a real urban park will be built, which will host several new sports, such as BMX freestyle, skateboarding, breaking and 3×3 basketball.
  • Located in Colombes, in the west of Paris, the Stade Yves-du-Manoir hosts hockey tournaments.
  • The new Seine-Saint-Denis aquatic centre, scheduled to be built at the end of 2023 in the north of Paris, will host waterpolo, diving and artistic swimming tournaments.
  • Finally, to attend rugby tournaments, athletics (and para-athletics), go to the famous Stade de France, located in Seine-Saint-Denis, in the north of Paris.

Campsites to attend the 2024 Olympics in Paris and Ile-de-France

If you want to stay at a campsite in Paris or near the stadiums, you can book a place at the camping de Paris ****, the only campsite within the city.

A campsite in the Ile de France is also a good choice as you can easily reach the capital and its various stadiums, usually by public transport.

To the west of Paris, choose the Paris Maison Laffite campsite ****, or the Huttopia Versailles campsite***.

In the east, choose the Fredland campsite **** which is located in Tournan-en-Brie, in the Seine-et-Marne.

To the south, in the Essonne, book a camping holiday at Le Parc des Roches *** in Saint-Chéron, in the Essonne, or at the La Rivière Dorée campsite ***, in Seine-et-Marne.
