How will campsites return to normal in 2021?

Although campsites were open this year in France, the restrictions on travel and the opening of services were subject to numerous conditions. 3 May, 19 May, 9 June, 30 June 2021... Little by little, the measures are allowing a return to normal for your campsite holidays. Discover them!

The measures taken by the government as part of the state of health emergency to deal with the Covid-19 epidemic are being lifted, little by little: on 3 May 2021, it was once again possible to go to the campsite of our choice, more than 10 km from our home.

This Wednesday 19 May sees the application of the decree 2021-606 and its many positive impacts for a return to normal life. Let's take a look at those that concern tourist accommodation and more particularly campsites.

The reopening of outdoor swimming pools:

In outdoor swimming pools, the reception of the public is authorised for physical and sports activities, games, cultural or leisure activities: swimming, water games, sunbathing and resting in the sun... everything is possible, within the limit of 35% of the capacity of the water park, and a minimum distance of one seat between the occupied seats/transoms. This reduced capacity will increase to 50% as of 9 June and will be abolished as of 30 June.

Indoor swimming pools are still not open for recreational use by holidaymakers staying at campsites from 19 May, unless the campsite organises swimming lessons with qualified staff. It will be necessary to wait until 9 June to take advantage of the simple bathing in a covered swimming pool, with a maximum capacity of 50% of the reception capacity.

As for the open-air pools, from 30 June onwards the maximum capacity will disappear, allowing holidaymakers to enjoy the aquatic spaces freely.

The reopening of the bars and restaurants on the terrace and indoors:

The good news is that as of Wednesday 19 May, you will be able to sit on the terrace of your campsite's bar or restaurant. Even better: it will also be possible to eat inside, if you are staying at the campsite. Indeed, the reinforced health protocol now applicable to the hotel, café and restaurant sector includes a special provision for welcoming customers inside the establishment.

However, no more large tables: tables must be limited to a maximum of 6 people from a group of friends or family, and bars and restaurants are limited to 50% of their capacity.

From 9 June 2021, outdoor terraces will be able to accommodate 100% of their capacity.

Sport:

Yoga, aquagym, basketball... Outdoor sports activities organised by campsites are possible for up to 10 people, only for non-contact sports, from 19 May; they will be made possible for up to 25 people from 9 June.

Campsites that have a fitness room will be able to open them from 19 May, but with a limit of 35% of available places, i.e. one in three facilities.

Children's clubs:

The confinement put in place in 2021 has had little impact on the reception of children in leisure structures concerning supervised activities exclusively intended for minors (including physical and sports activities), the campsite will therefore be able to welcome your child to the mini-club as in an "almost normal" year (respect for barrier gestures, wearing of masks from the age of 6 years...). See our selection of campsites that offer children's clubs.

Shows and entertainment :

Seated open-air shows will be possible from 19 May with a rule of 35% of the possible number of people up to 1000. The capacity will be limited to 65% for seated shows from 9 June 2021.

From 30 June, for the summer holidays, there will no longer be a limit on the number of participants, but a health pass may be required for more than 1,000 people: this raises questions about the ability of campsites to organise these often highly professional shows, which liven up evenings.

As for the discotheques, it is still unclear; their reopening will be examined by the government in mid-June.

Shops :

The grocery shops present in the campsites were naturally open, allowing the supply of customers. Now, the various shops and covered markets can reopen, with a constraint of 8m² per person.

Curfew:

From Wednesday 19 May, the curfew is extended to 9pm. As a campsite is a closed establishment, it is therefore possible to circulate there beyond 9pm, but not to leave it for a walk outside for example.

From 9 June, the curfew will be extended to 11pm.
