Need to take a break, want a weekend or a stay with a loved one, “just the two of you”? Want to “get away from it all” in every possible way? Why not try a floating house?

In the small village of Espagnac in Corrèze, Catherine Barrau and Yves Amelynck are the owners of the “Les Etangs de Taysse” campsite, which includes, on a total surface area of 50 hectares, 32 hectares of lakes, where three floating houses have been set up, the Aquapescas. The houses have 22 m² of living space and two bedrooms, a bathroom, a nice kitchen and a big enough patio to have meals, sunbathe, go fishing and – take it easy!

Maximum independence

Your future “little floating nest” is moored, but is not connected to any utility networks. You’ll enjoy total autonomy. Under the frame, four 1500-litre reservoirs have been placed, two for clean water and two for waste water. Enough to last a week. After that, the manager will come - and fill them up and empty them with a barge. Even more impressive, you’ll be totally independent in electricity. In simple terms, all the electricity runs on high-performance solar panels that store excess energy in batteries.

In clover

You’ve booked your stay and now you’ve arrived at the campsite. From now on, you won’t have to worry about anything, everything will be taken care of. You’ll have your own electric-motor boat that you’ll only need a few minutes to get the hang of. You can then go full steam ahead to your “little nest”, while the manager brings you your luggage. When you arrive, the beds are made and the towels are ready. For just a few euros, every morning you can have your choice of breakfast delivered (fresh bread and/or pastries, home-made jams, etc.). And if you haven’t planned on doing the cooking or want a candlelit dinner, Yves Amelynck can deliver dishes on request (with 24 to 48 hours’ notice) from some of the best restaurants in the region. Perfect, don’t you think?

For a stay like this, the price is from €210 a night, but the rate decreases for two nights or more.
